Indonesia's 34 provinces are listed below. Indonesia is a country made up of islands. The Indonesian archipelago currently has a population of 270 million people distributed over it. There are multiple provinces on each island. Indonesia currently has 34 provinces, each with its own governor.
Governors and other members of the representative body are also chosen for five-year terms by vote. Indonesian provinces are divided into regencies and cities, which are subdivided further. Indonesia had only 27 provinces at the start of the reform period.
However, following the reform era, numerous provinces were subdivided into multiple portions, each with a larger area. Indonesia's provinces have been partitioned not once, but multiple times.
